The official date of birth of fire security in Russia is the 30-th of April 1649 when the decree called “Nakaz o Gradskom blagochinii” (Decree of the State security measures) made by Russian Czar Alexey Mikhaylovich was published, where was a strict order of extinguishing in Moscow.
The first school for fire technicians was founded in 1906 in Saint-Petersburg and at this school was an exemplary fire team. This was the first educational institution that prepared fire specialists. From 1923 to 1925 a lot of fire technical courses and then colleges were opened in many Russian cities.
In 1994 the Ministry of education set a new major 330400 – “Fire safety” that was included into the classifier of higher educational institutions.
Fire safety department has been implementing its activity and have been preparing bachelors and masters since 2013.
Full-time tuition educational programs for applicants in 2016 are following:
- Area 20.03.01 “Technical safety” preparatory area “Fire safety” with conferment of “bachelor” academic degree. Expected degree time – 4 years
- Area 20.04.01 “Technosphere safety” master program “Fire safety” with conferment of “master” academic degree. Expected degree time – 2 years.
